A win for inclusivity at the 2024 Government Property Awards
We are proud to share that GFSL’s team’s work in prisoner employment has been recognised on a national level at the 2024 Property Awards.
The site team was shortlisted in the ‘inclusivity’ category for employing a serving prisoner on ROTL (release on temporary license). While we didn’t win in this category, we were honoured with the prestigious Judges’ Choice Award, selected from over 100 competitive entries.
The Judges’ Choice Award celebrates initiatives that go above and beyond to create meaningful impact. For us, this recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our team in pioneering prisoner employment and rehabilitation through ROTL and PPW (Purposeful Prisoner Working) programmes.
Congratulations to the dedicated team Richard Lummis, Tania Campante, and Roman Pajak, who are all deeply passionate about rehabilitative work. Richard, Tania and Roman actively champion prisoner working and provide a decent, supportive atmosphere for the prisoner working team.
Under the guidance of Helena Butler, Justice Solutions Manager at GFSL – who has been instrumental in leading these efforts – GFSL has consistently provided opportunities for prisoners to reintegrate into the workforce. Helena comments:
This work has been bolstered by the invaluable support of Nicky Buck, Recruitment Lead at GFSL, whose expertise and drive have significantly accelerated the success of our ROTL initiative. Her unwavering focus on aligning our recruitment strategy with our social responsibility goals has been a game-changer in offering life-changing opportunities.
We are also thrilled to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our ROTL employee, whose hard work and determination have played a key role in this success. While we cannot share their name due to privacy concerns, we are excited to explore permanent employment opportunities with them post-release.
This award underscores the importance of ROTL employment in transforming lives and reflects the wider positive impact of inclusive employment practices across the industry.
We are excited to continue our efforts in this space, and we look forward to future milestones and successes.
