Tickets to climb Big Ben tower go on sale for first time since refurbishment | UK News

Big Ben will reopen to visitors this summer for the first time since a massive restoration project, with tickets going on sale on Wednesday morning.

Tickets for the tours, which will run from July to September, can be booked from 10am on Wednesday and are expected to sell out quickly.

The tours will be the first opportunity for the public to go inside Big Ben since the biggest conservation project in the tower’s 160-year history.

The five-year restoration of the Elizabeth Tower involved extensive scaffolding, 500 workers and ended up running £51m over budget.

The tower spent years shrouded in scaffolding with its famous bell largely silent from 2017 to 2022.

Visitors attending a Big Ben tour must be at least 11 years old and comfortable climbing 334 steps unaided.

Tickets for a tour are £25 for adults and £10 for children aged 11 to 17.

Tickets can be booked through the Parliament website. If you’re not successful in this round, tickets for future tours will go on sale on the second Wednesday of each month at 10am.
