Victor Farrant: Man who murdered mother-of-three Glenda Hoskins dies in prison | UK News

The man who murdered mother-of-three Glenda Hoskins has died in jail weeks after it emerged he was being considered for release on compassionate grounds.

Victor Farrant, who also attempted to murder another woman by beating her over the head with wine bottles, had been “suffering from a longstanding health condition”, the Ministry of Justice has said.

The Prison Service has said he died in HMP Wakefield on Friday.

The 74-year-old’s cause of death has not been confirmed but he had reportedly been suffering from cancer.

Farrant was told he would never be released from prison when he was jailed for murder and attempted murder in 1998.

Mrs Hoskins’ children Iain, Katie and David had reportedly been fighting to keep Farrant in prison after probation officials said in February that he was being considered for release on health grounds.

Meanwhile, cabinet minister Penny Mordaunt urged Justice Secretary Alex Chalk not to release Farrant.
