Arsenal boss makes fresh plea to solve spate of knee ligament injuries hitting women’s football
rsenal manager Jonas Eidevall has called for clubs and governing bodies to work together to solve the high number of knee ligament injures in women’s football.
The Gunners have lost four players to ACL injuries this season, with Laura Wienroither becoming their latest casualty during Monday’s Women’s Champions League semi-final defeat to Wolfsburg.
Arsenal audit their injuries and examine training methods, but Eidevall believes wider cooperation is needed, as other clubs have also been hit hard.
“There is no single answer [on how to to solve the issue],” said Eidevall.
“It’s a multifaceted injury and we need to look at the complete picture to see what factors in this we can control, what can we do better.”
The Gunners are fourth in the Women’s Super League, one place outside the Champions League spots, but can reduce the gap on Chelsea in third to two points with a win against Leicester tonight.
