Jadon Sancho exiled from Man Utd training amid public feud with Erik ten Hag
The winger, 23, was accused of lacking effort in training by Ten Hag after the recent defeat at Arsenal before launching an impromptu rebuttal of the Red Devils boss on social media.
United have confirmed disciplinary action against Sancho, during which time he will work away from the squad.
A statement read: “Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.”
This weekend sees United face Brighton at home in the Premier League without several senior players. Antony has been given leave of absence following allegations surrounding his personal life while Mason Mount, Raphael Varane and several others are injured.
Sancho appeared to have earned a place in Ten Hag’s plans during pre-season when deployed as a false nine, amid the club’s search for a striker.
He even appeared as a substitute in the first three games of the season before being dropped from the squad in the final game before the international break.
United confirmed their decision on Thursday after Sancho had been pictured arriving at their Carrington training ground.
Dutch manager Ten Hag had said of the player: “Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him.
“You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”
Sancho reacted angrily with a post on social media insisting he had become a “scapegot” following the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal.
He wrote: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue.
“I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I have been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.
“I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
