Tottenham confirm James Maddison arrival as £40m signing continues Ange Postecoglou rebuild
The 26-year-old is the second new arrival of the summer at Spurs, following goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s £17million move from Empoli on Monday, while Dejan Kulusevski has also been signed on a permanent deal after 18 months on loan in north London from Juventus.
Maddison has signed a five-year contract running until 2028 after completing his medical on Wednesday, with Tottenham agreeing a £40m fee with Leicester.
A summer move for Maddison, who had just one year left on his Leicester contract, always looked likely, particularly after the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship.

Newcastle were also interesed in him, though Spurs moved ahead in the race as the Magpies increasingly turned their attention to Sandro Tonali, who is set to sign from AC Milan.
Tottenham remain in the market for a centre-back, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba of interest and a move to bring Clement Lenglet back to the club after his loan spell from Barcelona also a possibility.
