Liverpool vs West Ham LIVE! Premier League match stream, latest team news, lineups, TV, prediction today
After four straight wins since their draw at Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season, Liverpool look to continue their strong start against West Ham. Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Austrian side LASK in the Europa League on Thursday night and host the Hammers at the start of a big run of four Premier League that ends with the Merseyside derby next month.
West Ham were also in European action in midweek, beating Serbian club Backa Topola, and have made an encouraging start themselves under David Moyes. They were unable to hold on against Manchester City last weekend but should provide a stern test for Liverpool.
Moyes does not have a good record against Liverpool though, losing 23 top-flight fixtures against them, one short of the Premier League record for most managerial defeats versus a particular opponent. With kick-off at 2pm BST, follow all the action from Anfield.
Live updates
West Ham beat Liverpool 3-2 at the London Stadium in November 2021 but that is their only win in the past 14 league meetings.
The Hammers’ solitary win in their past 54 matches at Anfield in all competitions was by 3-0 in the Premier League in August 2015.
Can they change that record today?
Prediction
West Ham will need to use the same blueprint from their impressive win at high-flying Brighton last month if they are to avoid back-to-back league defeats this weekend.
On that occasion, David Moyes’ team ran out 3-1 winners despite having just 22 per cent of the possession on the south coast.
The Hammers must produce a similar gameplan here to halt in-form Liverpool, who you would expect to dominate the ball on home soil and create plenty of chances as usual.
It may be a tall order to expect them to pull off such a perfect away performance again, particularly with confidence high and goals flowing for Liverpool – albeit if they are making an unwanted habit of having to fall behind in games to wake themselves up.
Liverpool to win, 2-0.
West Ham team news
West Ham hope Jarrod Bowen will have recovered from illness in time to feature against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
Bowen has not trained for West Ham all week due to a virus, and he was left out of the matchday squad for the 3-1 win over TSC Backa Topola in their Europa League opener on Thursday night.
Liverpool team news
Liverpool will welcome Mohamed Salah back into their starting line-up after he scored from the bench in Thursday’s 3-1 Europa League win against LASK Linz.
Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez played the full 90 minutes in Austria but Salah will return alongside Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota.
Summer signing Ryan Gravenberch was withdrawn with an injury scare on his full debut, but Jurgen Klopp is hopeful the midfielder was only suffering with cramp.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara are still sidelined, meaning Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones should continue to deputise.
