Soccer Aid 2023 LIVE! England vs World XI charity match stream, latest score and goal updates today
The world’s biggest charity match returns tonight as sports stars and celebrities face off for UNICEF. England will be looking to reverse a four-game losing streak to World XI, having lost on penalties at the London Stadium last year, and now trail in the overall head-to-head record.
World XI, though, have the pedigree in the dugout with newly appointed Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino rallying his troops while Stormzy will be tasked with coming up with a much overdue win for the hosts, with help from Harry Redknapp, Emma Hayes, Vicky McClure and David Seaman. Former Lionesses’ star Jill Scott is the captain, with Usain Bolt again taking the World XI armband.
The likes of Liam Payne, Danny Dyer and Tom Hiddleston will be joining Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and others for England, facing off against Tommy Fury, Kem Cetinay, Hernan Crespo, Roberto Carlos and others. Kick off at Old Trafford is at 7.30pm BST, so stick with us!
Live updates
18min: A lovely touch by Bolt down the left channel sets up Crespo, who opts to feed in Adam, who is in acres near the six-yard box but rather than take a touch instead goes for a first-time punt and it’s easy for James.
16min: Now Totti is fed into the area, pauses and tries to wrong-foot James with a shot towards the near post but sees it skim past the post.
14min: A superb ping from Totti finds Crespo inside the area. Neville tries to get a boot in, but Crespo turns away and bends a shot at goal, which is straight into James’ arms.
12min: Defoe rolling back the years in style to nip between two attempted tackles, much to the delight of the crowd. Unfortunately, he is soon dispossessed.
10min: First sub as Carlos makes way for Darren Fletcher.
A good innings from Carlos.
CHANCE!
8min: Bolt runs through, shows a great touch to control the ball but slightly drags a shot from the corner of the area the wrong side of the post.
8min: Evra looks to burst through the middle but is soon stopped by Scott, and potentially illegally but the referee doesn’t blow up.
6min: A slow start to proceedings, it’s fair to say. Wilshere is looking to make things happen in the centre for England, but otherwise World XI are fairly comfortable in possession.
3min: A first shot on target and it’s for England. Adam gives the ball away, allowing Payne to pounce and have a shot from the edge of the area. It was a bit speculative and easy for Foster.
Kick-off!
1min: A little later than advertised but… here we go!
