A reminder of our news from yesterday that Palace winger Michael Olise has been identified by Paris Saint-Germain as a potential summer target as they plan for life without Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Olise has been instrumental in helping Palace climb to safety under Roy Hodgson, and PSG have included the 21-year-old on a transfer shortlist of forward players.

Messi is expected to leave the French giants when his contract expires at the end of the season and he is reportedly in talks over a Ā£320million-a-year move to Saudi Arabia.

It has also been claimed in France that PSG would not stop Neymar from leaving, after fans this week gathered outside his home and called for him to be sold.

PSG’s Qatari owners want to shift away from their strategy of signing superstars to instead develop up-and-coming French talent.

Olise was born in Hammersmith to a French-Algerian mother and Nigerian father, and since March last year has represented France Under-21s.

He starred in Saturday’s 4-3 win over West Ham and Palace manager Hodgson admitted after the game that it is only a matter of time before bigger clubs start to circle. Asked if he was worried that Olise could attract interest, Hodgson replied: “If I was [chairman] Steve Parish I would be.”

Olise signed a five-year deal when he joined Palace for Ā£8m from Reading in 2021 and it was reported last year that a Ā£35m release clause in his contract has been removed.

Roy Hodgson has dismissed any suggestion that Wilfried Zaha was unhappy at being brought off against West Ham last week.

The Palace forward appeared to cut a frustrated figure when he was brought off during Palaceā€™s 4-3 win over the Hammers, one that took the Eagles to the 40-point mark.

But Palace manager Hodgson has since refuted suggestions it was as a result of being taken off the pitch, instead claiming the attackerā€™s unhappiness was in response to another player on the pitch.

ā€œHeā€™s fine, heā€™s a good captain. Iā€™m irritated to some extent,ā€ Hodgson said. ā€œThe press are reporting that Wilf was angry at being taken off, how do the press feel they have the right to report that?

He wasnā€™t angry at being taken off at all. In fact he and I discussed him playing an extra 10 minutes when Iā€™d been thinking about taking him off 10 minutes earlier.

ā€œI hear that he was going on about one of the other players in the game, he certainly wasnā€™t moaning about being taken off.ā€

Stats

– Tottenham are aiming to avoid recording their fifth top-flight match without a win for the first time since October to November 2019 in what was Mauricio Pochettino’s final five league games in charge.

– Harry Kane has been involved in 10 goals in his last seven league appearances against Crystal Palace (seven goals, three assists), while Son Heung-min has seven in his last seven (five goals, two assists).

– A goal for Kane would see him move into outright second place in the Premier League’s all-time top scorers list with 209, moving clear of Wayne Rooney.

– He is one short of becoming the first player to score 50 goals in Premier League London derbies.

– Michael Olise has equalled the Palace record of nine Premier League assists this season, with only Kevin de Bruyne (16), Bukayo Saka (11) and Leandro Trossard (10) contributing more in the top flight so far this campaign.

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has been ruled out for the rest of the season, raising the possibility that his final game for the club could be the humiliating 6-1 defeat to Newcastle.

Lloris was forced off at half-time at St Jamesā€™ Park with a thigh injury after conceding five times in the opening 21 minutes.

The goalkeeper has missed Tottenhamā€™s last two games, with Fraser Forster stepping in, and is out of the final four games of the season.

Lloris has a year remaining on his contract at Tottenham, which he signed in January 2022, but Spurs are expected to be in the market for a new No1 goalkeeper this summer, which could prompt him to seek a new challenge.

Tottenham manager latest

Tottenham are set to step up talks with managerial candidates, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim under consideration.

Spurs have completed the due diligence stage of the process, led by chairman Daniel Levy, and are now seeking to interview contenders to permanently succeed Antonio Conte.

Levy is also searching for a new sporting director following the resignation of Fabio Paratici last month.

Spurs have made contact with out-ofwork pair Julian Nagelsmann, sacked by Bayern Munich in March, and former Spain coach Luis Enrique, and are now seeking discussions with other candidates to narrow down the shortlist.

Feyenoord’s Arne Slot and Burnley’s Vincent Kompany are of interest, while Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou are among the others linked with the vacancy.

Prediction

Itā€™s difficult to know Spurs will show up. While they may not be blown away in the opening 15 minutes again, actually taking the game to the opposition in a game they are expected to win is a different matter entirely.

Palace to win 2-1.
