The Gunners have also struck a deal with Ajax for Dutch defender Jurrien Timber, with Mikel Arteta now said to be stepping up his bid for rumoured Manchester United target Jeremie Frimpong at Bayer Leverkusen as they also target Romeo Lavia and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Chelsea open to Ben Elliott exit amid Lorient interest
Lorient are among the clubs interested in young Chelsea midfielder Ben Elliott, who could leave Stamford Bridge permanently this summer.
The 20-year-old has just one year left on his contract and is attracting interest from Ligue 1 in France after making his full international debut for Cameroon in June.
Chelsea are open to selling Elliott, who scored four goals and registered six assists in 26 games for their Under-21s last season, amid a radical recruitment drive at the youth level.
Elliott will not command a large transfer fee but Chelsea will target a sizeable sell-on clause in any deal.

Chelsea complete £4m deal for Ishe Samuels-Smith
Chelsea have signed 17-year-old Everton full-back Ishe Samuels-Smith for £4m.
Samuels-Smith is expected to join a refreshed Under-21s team that will feature Norwich midfielder Alex Matos and Benfica winger Diego Moreira next season.
Chelsea have also signed 18-year-old Santos winger Angelo Gabriel but will loan him straight out to their new partner club Strasbourg.

Chelsea are rumoured to have held shock talks over a move for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.
The now-USA striker is expected to seek a permanent move in the current window after starring on loan in France with Reims last term.
And clubs look to be queueing up to sign Balogun, with reports from last night stating that five clubs are in the running for his signature – AC Milan, Inter, Marseille, Monaco and RB Leipzig.
But now Football Transfers sensationally claim that Chelsea have also spoken to the player’s representatives about a potential shock switch from north to west London.
Harry Kane set for crunch Tottenham talks
Harry Kane will hold talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and head coach Ange Postecoglou when he reports for pre-season training next week, with the club still hoping to persuade the England captain to sign a massive new contract.
Spurs have offered Kane a new deal which would significantly increase his £200,000-a-week salary but he has no plans to sign it while the transfer window remains open.
The England captain has entered the final 12 months of a six-year contract and is a target for Bayern Munich, who have had an opening offer in the region of £60million rejected.
Kane, 30 this month, is open to leaving Spurs during the window or on a free transfer at the end of next season, but has not ruled out extending his contract with his boyhood club – even if this is currently considered the least likely scenario.

Mason Mount reveals why he left Chelsea for Man United
Mason Mount’s first official interview as a Manchester United player has been published by the club this morning after he finally completed his £60m move from Chelsea on Wednesday.
In it, he reveals why he left Stamford Bridge after 18 years and pursued a high-profile switch to Old Trafford.
“Several months ago, it became clear that I wasn’t in Chelsea’s plans moving forward,” Mount told MUTV. “Once I knew that United were involved, my decision was made up.
“A massive club, huge iconic players have played here, and I wanted to be a part of that from the beginning. Getting in early and ready for pre-season to start was a main objective of mine as well.”
Man United to make new Andre Onana bid
Manchester United are poised to submit a new verbal offer for Andre Onana.
Standard Sport reported yesterday that the Red Devils had gone to Inter Milan with a first bid for the Cameroon goalkeeper worth £35m plus £4m in add-ons.
However, Inter are holding out for over £50m for Onana after he played a major part in their run to the Champions League final last season.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, United will make a new verbal proposal for the 27-year-old today, with Onana keen on a move to Old Trafford if an agreement over the fee can be struck.
