Transfer news LIVE! Arsenal want Laporte, Cancelo; Chelsea in Lavia fight; Man United Onana bid; Spurs latest
The summer window is already shaping up to be one of the biggest on record and Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham are all at the centre of it. The Gunners will this week announce £150million worth of new signings with Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber undergoing medicals. Mikel Arteta will not stop there, though, as is now reportedly looking into deals for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Henrichs and Manchester City pair Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has finally started his new job as the club continue to work on signings. Moises Caicedo is the midfield priority, with Brighton demanding £100m, but they also like Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga and have been linked with Lyon wonderkid Rayan Cherki, Flamengo for midfielder Matheus Franca and a bid to bring Tino Livramento back. Mason Mount, meanwhile, has completed his medical ahead of a £60m move to Manchester United, who have lodged their first bid for Andre Onana and are monitoring Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.
For the second summer running, Spurs have made a fast start to a transfer window and are closing in their fifth and sixth signings, with former Fulham winger Manor Solomon today having a medical and Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven reportedly arriving for £30m. What Chelsea fans can expect from Jackson
Nicolas Jackson has had a remarkable rise from relative obscurity to new Chelsea centre-forward, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Five years ago he was not even playing for a professional club in Senegal, two years ago he was struggling in the Spanish second division and earlier this season he was not getting in the Villarreal team.
But a blistering finish to the campaign caught the attention of clubs across Europe and convinced Chelsea to spend £32million and give him an eight-year contract.
Jackson scored nine goals in eight LaLiga matches in nine weeks between April and June, outscoring every player in Europe’s top-five leagues in that time and earning himself a big move to Stamford Bridge.
“His explosion has been extraordinary because 10 months ago he didn’t even start for Villarreal,” Nacho Sanchis, a local reporter for Spanish sport website Relevo, told Standard Sport. “He became a starter, goalscorer and is going to Chelsea in the blink of an eye.

Bayern still unsure if Spurs will sell Kane
Bayern Munich’s long-mooted second bid for Harry Kane is now imminent, Sky Germany report.
Reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that Bayern, after seeing a £60m opening offer rejected, have now made signing Kane their sole focus and Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has been put in charge of the talks.
Spurs still insist Kane is not for sale at any price, even if the player “now only wants to join Bayern.”
A spanner in the works remains Spurs reluctance to sell, which the reporter suggests Bayern remain unsure over and could instead explore a deal to sign Kane on a free next summer.
Either way, a deal for this summer remains the priority.
Man United lodge first Onana bid
Manchester United have made their first bid for Andre Onana.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, an offer worth €40million (£34m) has been lodged after initial talks last week.
Inter Milan are holding out for close to €50m for the player, who is also attracting interest from Saudi club Al-Nassr.
David de Gea remains in talks over a new contract, despite his previous deal expiring over the weekend.
ICYMI: Mason Mount passes Man United medical
Mason Mount has successfully passed his medical at Manchester United.
That is according to widespread reports, the England midfielder came through all the necessary checks at Carrington on Monday afternoon.
Now he will officially sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford with the option for a further 12 months, with United having finally agreed a £60m package with Chelsea last week.
An official announcement could come today.
Chelsea want to bring Livramento back
Chelsea are exploring a bid to bring Tino Livramento back to the club.
According to the Daily Mail, the Southampton defender – who Chelsea sold for just £8m in 2021 – is a target for Mauricio Pochettino.
Newcastle are also interested and have been quoted £38million for the defender, who is happy to snub Magpies interest to stay with Saints in the Championship.
Arsenal want two Man City stars
Mikel Arteta is not ready to rest on his laurels and has eyes for two Manchester City defenders.
According to The Sun, Arsenal are ready to launch a late bid for Aymeric Laporte who was expected to join Juventus.
The 29-year-old has been told he can leave the Etihad Stadium this summer and has reportedly already turned down a move to Tottenham.
Meanwhile, with Joao Cancelo already being told to find another club, the Gunners continue to monitor for a chance to sign one of the Premier League’s most impressive performers in recent years.
Chelsea want TWO more wonderkids as medical booked
Chelsea are busy planning for their next 20 years with moves for two more highly rated wonderkids.
First, Lyon wonderkid Rayan Cherki is being looked at.
According to reports, the 19-year-old is the latest young star on the Blues’ radar after a breakout season for Lyon last term, scoring five goals and providing six assists. Lyon are open to selling and want around £43million for the youngster.
Nexy, according to Vene Casagrande, the club will then turn attentions to Flamengo for midfielder Matheus Franca. Talks have already begun a few days ago with Chelsea prepared to pay £17million and the Brazilian club wanting closer to £20m.
Newcastle failed with an approach earlier this year for the 19-year-old, who already has 50 games under his belt and nine goals.
On top of that, Brazilian wonderkid Angelo Gabriel is expected the club this week to undergo a medical. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 18-year-old will travel to England in the coming days to complete a move from Santos.
Angelo has previously been likened to Neymar and has cost around £15milllion. He will sign a six-year contract with the option of a further year.
Tottenham to sign Micky van de Ven
Tottenham aren’t hanging around this summer are they?
Spurs agreed a long-term deal with ex-Fulham winger Manor Solomon on Sunday to follow the arrivals of Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison, plus the permanent signings of former loanees Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro.
A new centre-back has been next on the wanted list of Ange Postecoglou, with the likes of Micky van de Ven at Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba in the frame.
Van de Ven looks to be the one they have gone for, with the Daily Mirror reporting that they are set to sign the Dutch Under-21 international in a transfer worth £30m.
Reports from the Netherlands add that the player has a verbal agreement for a five-year contract in north London.
Arsenal to confirm FOUR deals
It’s very busy at Arsenal this week.
With Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber set to undergo medicals, current stars William Saliba and Reiss Nelson will be returning for pre-season and put pen to paper on new contract extensions.
Saliba has grown into one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders – and his absence hugely affected Arsenal’s title charge last season – while Nelson popped up at crucial times and will extend his already long stay in north London.
Jota heads to Saudi
Celtic forward Jota has become the latest player to be enticed by the Saudi salary.
Al Ittihad have paid £25million for the forward, who has signed a three-year deal to link up with the likes of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.
