The West Ham striker missed the final stages of the season, including the Europa Conference League final win, with injury, at the end of what was a frustrating first campaign in England.
Sky Italia report that Romaās sporting director Tiago Pinto is set to fly to London this week for talks with West Ham, as they look to try and secure a year-long loan deal for the striker.
Update on Man United takeover
Sheikh Jassim is still waiting to hear whether his fifth and final offer for Manchester United has been successful, according to sources close to the Qatari.

Well then…
Kylian Mbappe determined to ensure everyoneās attention remains firmly on him.
The Frenchman has now taken to Twitter to respond to a report from Le Parisien, which claimed that he wants to leave PSG this summer to join Real Madrid.
He said: āLies… I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG where I am very happy.ā
Mbappe has also said he has no interest in renewing his contract at PSG, so he clearly wants to leave the club on a free transfer next summer. Very optimistic.
Kane boost for Spurs as Real turn to Mbappe
Real Madrid are expected to explore a summer move for Kylian Mbappe, which could effectively end their interest in Harry Kane, writes Dan Kilpatrick.
The 24-year-old France captain will be a free agent at the end of next season and his decision to leave PSG could spark a transfer bidding war for him this summer. PSG have always maintained Mbappe would not be allowed to leave for free, meaning they may now reluctantly sell to the highest bidder.
PSG are likely to demand around Ā£150m for Mbappe. Manchester United want to sign Kane, but Spurs insist the England captain, who has one year left on his own deal, will not be sold to a Premier League rival under any circumstances.
Spurs might have considered a huge offer of around Ā£100m, but if Real pursue a move for Mbappe, it increases the likelihood of Kane staying with Tottenham next season.

Kimmich still has ābig plansā at Bayern
Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich says he has ābig plansā at the club despite frequent transfer links with Barcelona and Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola worked with the 28-year-old at the Allianz Arena and could be looking for a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan.
Speaking while away on international duty with the German camp, Kimmich told BILD: āIt was difficult not to come across it [the rumours]. Generally, Iām not too invested in the rumours.
āI still have, as everyone knows, two years left on my contract and we have big plans [for those two years] at Bayern.ā
More on Mbappe…
Itās looking increasingly likely that Kylian Mbappe will leave PSG this summer, even if that is what we all thought was going to happen last year.

Mbappe hits back at PSG
Kylian Mbappe has claimed he ānever discussedā renewing his contract with PSG, as the forwardās relationship with the club continues to sour.
The 24-year-oldās current deal expires at the end of next season and while there is the option to extend that by a further year, news broke yesterday that Mbappe had informed the club he would not be doing so.
PSG were reportedly angered that Mbappeās letter to the club confirming that decision was leaked to the media before they were informed, and it has been suggested that they will not allow the Frenchman to leave the club for free in 12 monthsā time.
The French star has now released a statement on the situation, confirming that he will not be extending his deal, but he insisted that the PSG board have known about this since July last year.
āI have never discussed any contract renewal with PSG,ā Mbappe told AP.
āThe board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 ā and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them.ā
Battle on for Valverde
Manchester United and Liverpool could be set for a summer battle for Federico Valverde.
El Nacional report that Liverpool have made a Ā£51m bid for the Real Madrid midfielder, with Jurgen Klopp a big fan, but that offer has been swiftly rejected.
Itās suggested that Real have an Ā£85m asking price for Valverde, who has in the past been a target for United. With Real having signed Jude Bellingham, they are now open to selling the Uruguayan for the right price.
