95-Year-Old Woman Tasered While Armed With Steak Knife: Police
She was using the aid of her walker and was approaching officers at a “slow pace,” News.com.au reported.
She refused to drop the knife, and one of the cops discharged his taser and struck the victim, causing her to fall and hit her head.
According to News.com.au, her family is by her side at the hospital and she is “in and out of consciousness.”
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Peter Cotter told reporters the investigation into the incident is being taken seriously, but he would not say if the officer who discharged the taser would be charged.
“I am not the investigator, I’m not in the position to talk about whether this officer will or will not face criminal charges,” Cotter said.
Cotter noted the investigation is “very alive,” He added that the body cam footage was “confronting” and it was not in the public interest to share that video.
