PREPARATIONS for the successful hosting of Mashonaland West Agricultural Show 2024 edition are underway amid an increase in the number of exhibitors taking part in this yearâs event.
The 77th edition of the annual event kicks off Wednesday and comes following an El Nino-induced drought this year.
Running under the theme âProductivity for Industrialisation and Economic Developmentâ, the exposition runs from August 21 to 24 at Chinhoyi Show Society Grounds.
Mashonaland West Show Society chairman, Godfrey Mavankeni expressed optimism this yearâs edition will be bigger despite the low yields due to drought and resultant subdued economic activities.
âZimbabweans are known to be resilient, and this attribute is on display as there are more exhibitions than in the previous editions. We expect the show to be bigger and better considering that we also have new participants,â said Mavankeni.
He noted some big corporate players such as Kubota Engineering have come on board to showcase their products and services.
Show Society general manager, Innocent Bodzo said a business conference and networking cocktail will form part of the itinerary to give the event its real value as a corporate ideas exchange and interaction platform.
He said to spice it up, there will be an array of entertainment on the main arena which include drum majorettes, stunt bikers, acrobatic displays and live stage performances by renowned local musicians.
