David Canzini: Former No 10 deputy chief of staff and ally of the so-called “Wizard of Oz” political strategist Sir Lynton Crosby, who helped get Mr Johnson elected as London mayor. Seen as something of a hard man.

Shaun Bailey: Failed London mayoral candidate dragged into Partygate after a photo emerged over an apparent Christmas party at Tory HQ in 2020 which he attended.

Ben Houchen: Tees Valley mayor who was a Tory pioneer in winning over ex-Labour voters in the so-called Red Wall. Tipped as a future party leader who could emulate Mr Johnson.

Charlotte Owen: Will become the youngest ever life peer at the age of 29. The elevation of the former No 10 special adviser

Ross Kempsell: Former radio journalist brought into No 10 after an interview with Mr Johnson when the then-2019 Tory leadership contender revealed he made models of buses out of wooden crates. Will be the second youngest life peer after Ms Owen.
