Girl, 11, from British family reportedly shot dead in France

An 11-year-old girl from a British family has reportedly been shot dead in north-western France.

Reports in French media, including news site Le Télégramme, said the girl had been killed and parents injured at their home in Brittany. The parents were transported to hospital in Brest.

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office said: “We are providing consular assistance to a British family following a shooting in France and are in contact with the local authorities.”

The incident is said to have taken place on Saturday evening in a small area called Saint-Herbot, outside the village of Plonévez-du-Faou.

A 71-year-old man, a Dutch national, and his wife have been arrested, according to French media.
