British tourist stabbed to death outside nightclub in Calella, Spain

A British tourist has been fatally stabbed after a confrontation in a Spanish coastal town approximately 30 miles from Barcelona.

The incident unfolded at about 5am on Friday outside the Oxygen nightclub in Calella. Witness accounts suggest that an altercation took place between tourists near the venue.

A 30-year-old man was killed at the scene and another person was injured and taken to hospital, according to Catalan Police.

Calella police said: “This morning there was a fight in a nightclub in the city.

“The result of the incident is one dead and one injured, who has been taken to a hospital. The attack was by knife.”

Police are investigating the death and have launched a major inquiry.
