Double-decker bus roof crushed after crashing into bridge near Paddington Station

A double-decker bus has crashed into a bridge near Paddington Station in central London.

The bus crashed into the steel frame of the bridge at about 9am on Saturday morning, with images from the scene showing the top level of the bus crushed against the height-restricted entryway, and its windows shattered.

It is understood that the bus, around 14ft high, was attempting to enter the taxi rank at Paddington Station, which displays a warning to state the structure is 12ft high.

The crash caused traffic disruption in the area, with the taxi rank entrance reduced to a single lane.

Police officers closed off the scene on Bishop’s Bridge Road.

According to the Met Police, the incident was a damage-only collision with no reported injuries
