Latest with Rishi Sunak set to scrap part of HS2 in his speech today

Rishi Sunak is set to scrap part of the HS2 rail line to Manchester in his speech at the Conservative conference today – a conference that has been overshadowed by leaks, controversy and division.

The Prime Minister will claim he is challenging “30 years of vested interests standing in the way of change” as he sets out other eye-catching policies, vowing “to fundamentally change our country”.

Over the three day conference, the Tory party has announced a crackdown on trans inclusion policies in the public sector, promised to send prisoners to jails abroad and attracted criticism after controversial comments from Suella Braverman on a “hurricane” of global migration affecting Britain.
