Elderly Kariba man to languish in prison for raping girl (4)

A 62-year-old Kariba man will spend the next 18 years behind bars following his conviction for raping a four-year-old girl.

Frank Chavausipo, a general worker at Kent farm, appeared at Kariba Magistrates Court facing one count of rape.

The State case was that on October 21, 2025, an informant discovered Chavausipo and the minor sleeping inside a public bathroom at the farm.

The awkward scenario prompted the informant to question offender what he was doing with the girl in that position. He failed to give a satisfactory explanation.

The informant then called a neighbour to witness the scene before the matter was reported to police leading to Chavausipo’s arrest.
