Europe is preparing to endure another day of extreme heat, as countries in the fastest-warming continent face record-breaking temperatures.

Sardinia and Sicily are anticipating their highest ever temperatures today, with a high of 48C forecasted by the European Space Agency today, while the mercury could exceed 43C in Rome, surpassing a record of 40.5C set in August 2007.
