Malope, whose stardom was ignited after winning the South African talent search music competition Shell Road to Fame in 1987, is celebrating 35 years in the music industry.

“We are excited, we are hosting Dr Rebecca Malope on the 6th of May at the Piccadilly Banqueting Suite in Birmingham,” Pastor Steve Mpofu of Rainbow Entertainment & Promotions said in an interview with NewZimbabwe.com.

“She will not be the only artist performing on the night although we will be celebrating her legacy and her contribution to the history of African gospel music. We are showing our appreciation to her while she is still alive so that she knows that people are appreciating her and love the work that she is doing.

“She is a blessing to the body of Christ and to the entire community within the African continent. So, we are looking forward to this day.

“We are going to have a wonderful time including some time to worship and pray and fellowship as fellow Africans and other people.

“We are going to have people from different countries. We have been working hard on this day and we are so grateful that God has brought it to fruition.”

Rebecca Malope will be supported by Omega Khunou as one of the opening acts together with Tina Zungu, Abigail Khumalo as well as other United Kingdom-based Zimbabwean artists including Yeukai WaShe.

Pastor Mpofu paid tribute to sponsors of the event such as Diaspora Insurance, who will be showcasing their products during the show.

Diaspora Insurance’s leading product, the Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan, is a guaranteed acceptance, US$/£/Є denominated funeral cash plan available to global diasporans from thirteen African countries who can cover themselves and their families globally including those back home.

“We are so grateful for the companies that have come forward to support this project,” said Pastor Mpofu.

“It really humbles us because it’s very rare to find companies coming forward to support gospel events in the UK and for us, it is a breakthrough, and we are so thankful for what these companies are doing.

“Diaspora Insurance, under the leadership of Mr Jeff Madzingo, have always stood with Rainbow Entertainment & Promotions. They pray with us and encourage us and support our work.

“They are one of our sponsors as well on the night. It’s an honour to have them on board and support the work of the lord and also sowing back into the community because when they are with us, they have an opportunity to talk about the services they offer and people can sign up with them.

“We want to encourage people that, as you come out on the night, please visit their stand so that you can have a word with the Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan consultants and know about the services they are offering.”
