Highlanders back on top despite draw Dynamos held by Triangle

By Sports Reporter

HIGHLANDERS returned to the top of the Premier Soccer League log standing despite being held to a frustrating goalless draw against minnows Seasham at Bata Stadium in Gweru while Dynamos failed to build on their Harare derby victory following a goalless stalemate with Triangle in Harare.

Despite the draw lifting his side above Caps United due to a better goal difference, Highlanders coach Baltermar Brito was disappointed with the result as he hit out at time-wasting tactics by the Sheasham players.

“I’m not satisfied at all. We did play as planned. People come all the way to support the team but in the second half, they only watched the goalkeeper (Elton Sibanda) laying down. It’s not football.”

The point took Highlanders to 15 points from seven matches. Caps United are also on 15 points but have an inferior goal difference while they have also played a game more than Highlanders.

For Sheasham it was their sixth draw from six matches which meant they moved up to 12th position on nine points from the eight matches they have played so far this season.

It was also a frustrating afternoon for Bosso’s rivals Dynamos after they failed to collect maximum points against Triangle at the National Sports Stadium.

DeMbare are  fourth on the log standings with 12 points from seven matches while Triangle, who have now drawn their last three successive matches are in ninth position on 11 points.

Meanwhile, in the other match played on Sunday, Bulawayo Chiefs claimed their third successive victory following a 3-0 win against Hwange at the Colliery.

Hwange were playing their first match at the Colliery since their promotion back to the Premier Soccer League after the stadium was finally cleared by the PSL.
