BBC presenter will face no further police action as no offence was committed, Met says

The Metropolitan Police has said no criminal offence has been committed newsreader Huw Edwards, the BBC presenter facing allegations over payments for sexually explicit images.

Mr Edwards has now been named as the newsreader at the centre of the claims.

The BBC reported the Met Police’s Specialist Crime Command have concluded their assessment into these allegations, and have determined there was no information to indicate a criminal offence has been committed.

The force said they have spoken to a number of parties, including the BBC, as well as the alleged complainant and the alleged complainant’s family.

The BBC said it has been advised by the Met Police to continue its internal investigation, given there is no indication of a criminal offence.
