Rishi Sunak visits Middle East after Egypt and US agree to let aid into Gaza

Rishi Sunak has arrived in Israel to meet leaders amid concerns that the conflict with Hamas could escalate in the Middle East.

The Prime Minister will hold talks with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog as he starts a two-day trip that is expected to take in a number of regional capitals in an effort to stop the fighting from spreading.

His visit follows that of US President Joe Biden, which resulted in a deal with Egypt for the Rafah crossing to be opened and for aid to enter the Gaza Strip.
