Multiple people shot at Kansas City Chiefs’ Superbowl parade
Multiple people have been shot during the victory parade for the Kansas City Chiefs, local police have said.
The fire department said eight to 10 people were injured at the event in the centre of Kansas City, Missouri. The condition of the victims is unknown.
Police said in a news release that two people had been detained.Â
âShots were fired west of Union Station near the garage and multiple people were struck,â Kansas City police said on the social media platform X.
âWe took two armed people into custody for more investigation.â
Several people near the parade route were carried away on stretchers shortly after Chiefs fans marked their third Super Bowl title in five seasons.
Footage on social media showed chaos outside the train station, with dozens of uniformed police officers, weapons drawn, running into the building as scores of bystanders fled in the opposite direction.
Union Station, a 109-year-old Beaux Arts building that once served as a US rail hub for passenger and freight traffic, is now home to a museum and visiting attractions.
