Sir Keir Starmer will take the hot seat for the last of ITV’s Tonight series of “The Leader Interviews” being aired this evening.
Each of the four half-hour programmes has profiled the lives of the major political party leaders, from their personal background to their political policies and priorities, during the election campaign.
The first programme broadcast 6 June featured Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey.
Rishi Sunak was the focus of the second interview programme, with ITV’s Paul Brand, on 12 June.
And last Monday saw Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, co-leader of the Green Party England and Wales Carla Denyer, John Swinney, First Minister of Scotland and leader of the Scottish National Party, and leader of Plaid Cymru Rhun ap Iorwerth share the media spotlight.
Tonight’s will be the final of the series as Paul Brand interviews the Labour Party leader.
What time is the Keir Starmer interview on ITV?
This last interview in the series will be broadcast from 8.30pm to 9pm on ITV1 on Thursday 27 June.
Viewers will also be able to stream it on ITVX.
Who is interviewing Keir Starmer?
Paul Brand will be the one asking the questions during the ITV interview, as he did with the Prime Minister earlier this month.
The Welsh-born journalist is the UK editor of ITV News and has been the presenter of the broadcaster’s flagship current affairs programme, Tonight, since 2022.
He began his career with ITV Wales, before moving to ITV Yorkshire as a political correspondent. He then reported on politics for Good Morning Britain and joined the ITV News team in 2016.
Last year, he was named political journalist of the year at the Royal Television Society Television Journalism Awards.
Married to civil servant Joe Cuddeford, they have a three-year-old son.
What are Labour’s flagship election policies?
The Labour Party launched 10 policies at the end of May, which it claims will “change Britain”.
Key among its promises are:
- Deliver two million more NHS appointments a year
- Bring back the “family doctor” and trial Neighbourhood Health Centres
- Set up Great British Energy, a publicly owned energy company
- End private schools’ VAT exemption and business rate relief
- End hotel use for asylum seekers
- Return to public ownerships of rail, and establishing a Great British Railways public body
- Free breakfast clubs in every primary school in England
