Rishi Sunak dismisses Rwanda bill dissent

Rishi Sunak has insisted he is not “tetchy” but passionate as he dismissed Rwanda Bill dissent, likening rebel Tory MPs actions to “debating society” antics.

In an interview with The Spectator, Mr Sunak said: “There’s nothing tetchy. But I am passionate. When things are not working the way I want them to work, of course I’m going to be frustrated.”

The Prime Minister won a crunch vote in the Commons on Tuesday but he faces ongoing threats from factions of Tories over the details of the bill.

Addressing the division within the Tory party over his Rwanda policy, he said: “What the country wants is a practical government that is making a difference to their lives and changing things for the better, not a debating society.”
