Latest updates as Iran denies involvement in drone attack that killed three US soldiers

Iran has denied any involvement in a drone attack in north-east Jordan that killed three US soldiers.

Around 34 other troops were injured in the strike which hit soldiers as they were sleeping in tents.

US President Joe Biden blamed Iran-backed groups for the strike, the first fatal attack on US forces since the Israel-Hamas war erupted in October.

Mr Biden is now under mounting pressure from Republicans to respond to the drone strike with direct action against Iran.

He said the US “shall respond” and will carry on the soldiers’ “commitment to fight terrorism”.
