Latest updates as nurse set for whole life order when she faces sentencing for murders today

Lucy Letby, the most prolific child serial killer in modern British history, is expected to face the rest of her life behind bars when she is sentenced on Monday.

Reports that she will not be appearing in court for her sentencing have sparked anger, and Education Minister Claire Coutinho has insisted this morning that there is commitment across Government to making sure that people who have committed crimes are facing the reality of that.

Letby was on Friday found guilty of murdering seven babies while working as a nurse at the Countess of Chester hospital. She has also been convicted of attempting to murder a further six babies between June 2015 and June 2016. She was found not guilty of two counts of attempted murder.
