Blade Runner and Knives Out actor M Emmet Walsh dies aged 88

Actor M Emmet Walsh has passed away at the age of 88 following a cardia arrest, his manager has said.

Walsh died at Kerbs Memorial Hospital in St Albans in, Vermont his managed Sandy Joseph told Entertainment Tonight.

The actor studied at the Academy of Dramatic Arts at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, before making his onscreen debut in Alice’s Restaurant in 1969.

His break out role was in Harrison Ford’s Blade Runner in 1982. He then went on to feature in over 200 films and TV series throughout the course of his career.

His publicist Cynthia Snyder said of his acting career: “Walsh’s tremendous body of work includes 119 feature films and more than 250 television productions.”

He also had roles in the 1986 film Critters and My Best Friend’s Wedding in 1997. More recently he played Mr Proofroc in the 2019 hit, Knives Out.

As well as films, he also featured in US TV programmes such as Sneaky Pete and The Mind of the Married Man.
