Video shows cascading floodwater in Ukraine after explosion Kyiv blamed on Russia

This is the terrifying moment a dam in the Russia-occupied part of Kherson in southern Ukraine shattered in an explosion, with water flowing out into the conflict zone.

Ukraine has blamed the blast on Moscow, while Russia claimed the dam was destroyed in shelling by Kyiv forces.

Civilians have started evacuating the area on both sides of the frontline, with Russia-installed officials saying 22,000 people in the region are at risk of flooding. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that up to 80 settlements could be flooded.

The incident could also affect water supplies to Russia-occupied Crimea and present a risk for the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which gets its cooling water from the reservoir.
