Police hunt women seen at pro-Palestine demonstration wearing jackets with paraglider images

Police are appealing for help identifying two women who were seen at a pro-Palestine demonstration in London wearing jackets with images of paragliders.

One of the women, who attended the march through Westminster on Saturday (15 October), led the crowd in chants which accused the UK, France and Italy of being “terrorist states”.

She also held a placard featuring an image of a paraglider, which was passed onto a third woman.

The images could reference terrorist group Hamas using motorised paragliders in their surprise attack on Israel last weekend.

Anyone who knows who the women, who wore black and red jackets plus facemasks, is urged to contact the force on 101, quoting reference number 3077/ of 15 October.

Scotland Yard said on Saturday that 15 people had been arrested for alleged offences at the protest, including assaults on emergency workers and setting of fireworks in a public place.

Three of those arrested were charged with criminal offences and one has been issued with a penalty notice for disorder

Three other demonstrators were referred to Youth Offending Teams.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman accused some of those who attended the march of being guilty of “glorifying terrorism”.

She wrote on X, which was formerly known as Twitter: “Thank you to police officers who worked so hard yesterday in difficult circumstances to manage tens of thousands of protesters. Numerous arrests were made as a result of pockets of disorder, violence and hate.

“To all those who saw fit to promote genocide, glorify terrorism and mock the murder of Jewish people, including women and babies — the police are coming for you.”

Ahead of the protests, the Met Police’s Deputy Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said: “People do not have the right to incite violence or hatred. The law is clear that support for proscribed organisations is illegal.

“Anyone with a flag in support of Hamas or any other proscribed terrorist organisation will be arrested. We will not tolerate the celebration of terrorism or death, or tolerate anyone inciting violence.

“We have seen behaviours this week that are unacceptable. They are hateful and there is no place for that in London.”
