Police launch murder investigation after body of newborn baby found in Ipswich

Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a newborn baby was discovered outside a property in Ipswich.

Suffolk Police officers were called at 12.35pm on Saturday after receiving disturbing reports that a newborn baby had been found outside a premises on Norwich Road in the town.

The forced arrested two men and a female on suspicion of murder in connection with the infantā€™s death

Police said in a statement: ā€œParamedics were also in attendance, but the baby was sadly declared deceased.ā€

The force said the childā€™s death is being treated as unexplained and those who have been arrested remain in custody where they are being questioned.

Detective Chief Superintendent Jane Topping, of the force, added: ā€œThis is a very sad and distressing incident and, at this time, our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the babyā€™s death is in its early stages. ā€œI would urge people not to speculate on social media as to the circumstances of this tragic event.ā€

A police cordon has been set up on Norwich Road.
