Latest politics updates as Government cracks down on zombie knives

The Government has announced the next steps on banning zombie-style knives with the third crackdown since 2016.

Home Secretary James Cleverly said new rules introduced to Parliament on Thursday will ban zombie knives with no threatening images or words to close a “legal loophole” that is being exploited by retailers.

The amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill is intended to “make possession of zombie knives illegal and to close this loophole”, Mr Cleverly said.

Labour has outlined proposals for a prevention plan aimed at stopping young people from becoming involved in knife crime.
