Suella Braverman’s migrant ‘deal’ with Sunak revealed

The Prime Minister agreed to increase the salary threshold for migrant workers to £40,000 as part of a leadership contest deal with Suella Braverman, it has been reported.

The Telegraph said it has seen a copy of the agreement between Rishi Sunak and the former home secretary. According to the pact, which Mr Sunak is said to have made with Ms Braverman as he sought her backing during his leadership bid, the Prime Minister agreed to a four-point migration plan.

Ms Braverman referred to the deal in the scathing letter she wrote to Mr Sunak after she was sacked as home secretary earlier this month.

The revelation comes as pressure mounts on the Government to reduce record levels of net migration. Today, James Cleverly is expected to give a statement on net migration levels as the government faces pressure to come up with a workable plan on the issue.
