Waspi women await compensation decision as landmark report published
Women affected by changes to the state pension age could find out if they will receive compensation from the Government, with the findings of a five-year investigation expected to be officially laid out in Parliament on Thursday.
The final report from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) into alleged failures at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) over the way pension changes were communicated could recommend that the Government set up a compensation scheme.
Experts have told i they expected the ombudsman to recommend a âhighly targetedâ compensation scheme focused only on the worst-affected women and that they âwould not be hopeful of huge payoutsâ, but campaigners have insisted they will not âroll overâ if the Government refuses to up a scheme.
