Six men charged with 65 sexual offences against man’s ex-wife

A man has been charged with drugging and raping his ex-wife, while five other men have been charged with sexual offences against her over 13 years.
Philip Young, 49, formerly of Swindon in Wiltshire and now of Enfield, has been charged with 56 sexual offences, including multiple counts of rape, administering a substance with intent to overpower to allow sexual activity, voyeurism, possession of indecent images of children and possession of extreme images.
Joanne Young, 48, Young’s now ex-wife, has waived her legal right to anonymity ahead of court proceedings.
Ms Young asked to be named as part of the report and is being supported by specially trained officers and partner agencies.
Philip Young has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Swindon magistrates’ court on Tuesday.
Five other men aged between 31 and 61 have also been charged with offences against Ms Young between 2010 and 2023.
Norman Macksoni, 47, Dean Hamilton, 47, Conner Sanderson Doyle, 31, Richard Wilkins, 61, and Mohammed Hassan, 37, were released on bail and will also appear at Swindon magistrates’ court on Tuesday.
Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith of Wiltshire Police called the arrests a “significant update” in a “complex and extensive investigation.”
He said: “The victim in this case, Joanne, has taken the decision to waive her automatic legal right to anonymity.
“She has been supported by specially trained officers from the beginning of the process and she has made the decision following multiple discussions with officers and support services.”
