Is Sky down? Broadband internet still not working for many users today after major outage

Sky broadband suffered a major failure on Tuesday night, leaving tens of thousands of customers across the country unable to connect to the internet.

The problem appeared to start at around 10pm, with more than 70,000 people logging complaints with online outage tracker DownDetector.

Others complained on social media, with one customer writing on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Absolute terrible quality service for the money being asked, constantly having problems since I took out a contract. Seems Sky has taken down their service status page down what a surprise. Think I’ll be cancelling my direct debit if they don’t sort it out quick.”

Another, named Jason Bringins, commented: “Sky internet down again for the zillionth time, what will happen when the traditional phone line goes and people have to rely on their unreliable services?”

Sky said late last night that, after several hours of problems, the issue had been resolved. A statement on its help page said: “We are aware that some Sky Broadband customers have been experiencing issues.

“Our engineers have now resolved this however if you continue to experience issues please complete a power reset on your Sky Broadband Hub. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

As of Wednesday morning about 1,500 people were still logging issues on DownDetector.
