Is Slack down? What we know about issues as users report problems sending messages

Instant messaging service Slack, used by many companies as their primary mode of communication, has gone down, leaving people unable to connect to their workspaces.

The problem appears to have started at around 9.30am, with more than 3,500 logging the issue with online outage tracker Down Detector.

Slack users have also been complaining on social media. “When your entire business runs on Slack this is quite disconcerting,” Joe Tannorella said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Jade King added: “Slack’s down. I can’t live, laugh, love, and produce content in these conditions.”

When attempting to load up Slack, people are being met with a “server error” message or one that reads: “Something’s gone awry, and we’re having trouble loading your workspace.”

The problem does not appear to be affecting all workspaces, and it is currently unconfirmed how widespread the outage is.

Slack updated its status page at 10.11am BST acknowledging the issue.

The incident message says: “Some customers are encountering various errors in Slack. We’re actively looking into this, and we’ll report back as more information becomes available.”
