What is Snapchat support code C14A and is the app down? Users report log-in not working in apparent outage

Snapchat users have reported widespread issues when attempting to log in to the app this evening.

According to the online outage tracker Down Detector, the issues appeared to begin around 6.30pm on Thursday 25 May, with thousands of people logging problems.

A high proportion of these – and reports on social media – cited the specific login error with the code C14A.

What is Snapchat code C14A?

The C14A message reads simply: “Something went wrong. Please try again later. Support code: C14A”.

It is encountered by users attempting to log on to the social media app, and there is no specific cause for it.

In ordinary circumstances, anyone who sees it is advised to take the usual steps when encountering a glitch: ensuring you’ve downloaded the latest version, restarting the app (and/or your phone) and clearing your cache.

However, it has also previously indicated more widespread connection issues due to problems with Snapchat’s servers – and, given the scale of the outage reports on Thursday, this appears highly likely to be the case here.

Users took to social media in their droves to report issues, with many fearing that their account had been locked specifically. However, Snapchat is so far yet to acknowledge a widespread problem.

Instead, the app’s Twitter support account has responded to complaints either requesting DMs and screengrabs displaying the specific error message, or by giving users details of how to log an official support ticket.

Snapchat has been contacted for comment.
