Stalker jailed for attempted murder after stabbing pregnant woman

A man has been jailed for more than 17 years for the attempted murder of a pregnant woman in South Wales.

Daniel Mihai Popescu, 29, previously pleaded guilty to attempting to murder Andreea Pintili in Coronation Place, Aberfan, on 5 December last year. He also pleaded guilty to stalking.

Ms Pintili, who witnesses said was pregnant, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for treatment and later discharged.

During a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday, Popescu was jailed for 17 years and four months.
