Three more Israeli hostages being released from Gaza by Hamas

Two more Israeli hostages have been released by Hamas with a third also due to be handed over this morning.

Ofer Kalderon, 54, and Yarden Bibas, 35 were passed over to the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, before returning to Israel while Keith Siegel, 65, is also due to be released.

Hamas claimed in November 2023 that Mr Bibas’s wife Shiri and her two sons Kfir, aged nine months when he was captured, and Ariel, who was four had been killed in an Israeli air strike.

Their deaths have not been confirmed by Israeli authorities.

A video of their abduction showed Shiri swaddling in a blanket her two redheaded boys, with Kfir the youngest of about 250 people taken captive on 7 October.

American-Israeli Mr Siegel was also set to be released Saturday and was expected to be handed over to the Red Cross in Gaza City to the north.

The six-week phase one of the truce calls for the release of 33 hostages and nearly Palestinian 2,000 prisoners.

It also covers the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza and an increase in humanitarian aid to the devastated territory.
