Three sought over vandalism of MP’s office in Gaza protest

Police have released CCTV images of three men they want to speak to after graffiti was sprayed on the constituency office of MP Feryal Clark.

Officers say the Labour MP for Enfield North was targeted in relation to the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Graffiti was sprayed on Ms Clark’s office on Herftord Road in London at around 11pm on 21 November, the Met said.

It comes after more than 50 Labour MPs defied the party whip and voted for an SNP amendment to the King’s Speech which called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Ms Clark did not attend the vote on 15 November and afterwards said she was unable to attend Parliament on the day it happened because she was suffering with Covid – adding that if she had been there, she would have backed a Labour amendment which called for longer humanitarian pauses in Gaza.

PC Louis Blackburne-Maze, who is leading the investigation, said: “Everyone has the right to protest and to have their voice heard, but when that crosses the line into criminality, as it clearly did in this incident, we will take action.

“Elected representatives have an important role to play and they expect to be held to account, but that should not involve feeling unsafe. Neither they nor their staff should have to face targeted attacks and intimidation.

“Officers investigating this incident have examined CCTV footage from the local area and we have identified three suspects that we would like to speak to. I would urge anyone reading this appeal who recognises them to get in touch.”

Anyone who has information about the men in the photographs, or who was in the area at the time and saw something that could help, should call 101 with the reference 1361/04DEC.
