Traffic standstill along Kadoma-Bulawayo road, as trucks collide

TRAFFIC has ground to a halt between Kadoma and Kwekwe due to an accident at the 129km peg.

The accident involves two trucks, one of which has blocked the entire breadth of the highway.

Efforts by the police and fire brigade to clear the road are currently underway.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the trucks was trying to avoid hitting a Honda Fit, swerved and then got hit by the other truck’s trailer.

No fatalities were recorded.

“The accident happened just around 11 am,” said a witness who spoke to NewZimbabwe.com

“The driver was trying to avoid hitting a Honda Fit that seemed to have cut in front of him but then, as he was doing that his truck was hit by the other one’s trailer.

“It then fell and blocked the road.”

Meanwhile, three people were killed in a separate accident along the same road on Tuesday, according to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

The incident occurred at the 129-kilometre peg near Kadoma.

It involved a Mercedes-Benz and a Honda Fit carrying five passengers.
