Two of four people found dead in house near Norwich died from stab wounds
Detectives investigating the deaths of four people including a father and his two daughters who were found in a house near Norwich have confirmed two died of stab wounds.
The bodies of two young girls, a 36-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, were found in Costessey at 7.15am on Friday morning.
Norfolk Police said a post-mortem carried out today concluded the woman died as a result of stab wounds to the neck and the man died as a result of a stab wound to the neck.
Post-mortems on the two girls will be carried out on Wednesday 24 January.
The announcement comes after the force referred itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) after they did not respond to a 999 call made by a man at the house more than an hour before the bodies were discovered.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Burgess, who is leading the investigation, said: “Following this latest development we remain satisfied no one else was involved in this incident.
“This latest information will only add to the distress and shock felt by members of the local community and it’s why, from the outset, we’ve been determined to carry out detailed and methodical enquiries to make sure we fully understand how this incident has happened.
“I would like to thank the community for their support and for the many people who have called offering information. We continue to work through this and will get back to everyone who has been in touch. The police cordon remains in place at the scene and we will continue to have a presence in the area tomorrow.”
Officers arrived and forced entry into the home in Allan Bedford Crescent where they found the bodies.
Formal identification of the dead is yet to take place but the man who died has been named locally as Bartlomiej Kuczynski, and the girls are said to be his daughters.
The IOPC is assessing the circumstances of the call and determine the appropriate level of investigation required.
The force said as a result of the investigation, no further information relating to the circumstances of the call will be released at this time.
The police arriving at the house came after a member of the public raise concerns for the welfare of the people inside in another 999 call.
A referral has also been made to the IOPC over police contact at the home on 14 December, 2023 relating to a missing person enquiry.
