Latest news as Rishi Sunak defends Brexit deal after criticism from car manufacturers

Rishi Sunak is in Japan for the G7 summit where he has insisted the UK’s Brexit deal with the EU is “as deep and as comprehensive” as any bilateral agreement in the world.

It follows criticism from car manufacturers in the UK who have said the current deal is “unrealistic and counterproductive” and called for more time to implement rules governing spare parts.

The Prime Minister is set to be joined by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Hiroshima in person as Western try to ramp up the pressure on Russia.
