Latest weather news as cold snap brings -8 winds with 100 flood warnings in place

A week-long cold snap has brought winds of -8C in southern England following snowfall, according to the Met Office.

A yellow warning for ice and a chance of snow has been issued for Monday afternoon into early Tuesday morning.

It comes as more than 100 flood warnings remain in place following last week’s Storm Henk deluge as large parts of the UK endured a cold, frosty morning.

Snow fell in parts of southern England on Monday, but Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said that not much has settled, with some areas seeing a “dusting of maybe one centimetre or two of snow”.

The forecaster warned of icy conditions across England and Wales and of a “significant wind chill” on Tuesday, which will make temperatures feel colder.
