Woman arrested after three children found dead in Bristol

A 42-year-old woman has been arrested after police found three children dead at an address in Bristol.

Officers made the arrest after they attended a concern for welfare call in Blaise Walk, Bristol at 12.40am on Sunday, Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement.

The police force said it had taken custody of the woman on suspicion of murder, and that she is currently in police custody at a hospital.

Neighbourhood chief inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen said it was an “incredibly tragic and heartbreaking incident” and that the three children had died at the scene.

“My sincere condolences go to the children’s loved ones and we will be ensuring they are offered support through our family liaison unit.”

Police said they view the situation as an “isolated incident” and that there is “no further risk to the wider community”.

Avon and Somerset Police has notified the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior contact.
