Who are the new Gladiators? Full cast of contenders so far, and when the reboot series will start on BBC One
A group of new competitors has been announced to compete in a reboot of game show Gladiators, which is returning to screens on BBC this year.
The revival of the show was announced last year and in the past two weeks BBC has announced a total of five Gladiators.
The Chaseās Bradley Walsh and his son, Barney, have also previously been revealed to be hosts of the BBC revival.
Itās the second revival of the show, which originally aired on ITV for eight seasons between 1992 and 2000 and then two seasons on Sky One in 2008 and 2009.
Who are the new Gladiators?
The first two Gladiators, Fury and Steel, were announced in early May followed by Giant, Fire and Legend on 18 May.
So who are they?
Fury is Jodie Ounsley, who currently plays rugby for Exeter Chiefs Women and represented England in rugby sevens. Sheās described as having āpower and passion for competitionā, as well as having Gladiators in her blood ā her dad was on the show in 2008.
Steel is 2020 UKās Fittest Man title holder Zack George. Heās described as having an āunbreakable strengthā and being a UK CrossFit Star, including reaching rank 26 out of 126,461 on the global CrossFit leader board.
Giant is Jamie Christian Johal, a 6-foot 5-inches tall former firefighter turned bodybuilder (one of the tallest bodybuilders ever, BBC has said). When showtime comes, viewers have been urged not to be fooled by his ābig, friendly giantā looks.
Fire is Montell Douglas, the first female UK athlete to compete at both the Summer and Winter Olympics (Beijing 2008 and Beijing 2022) as a sprinter and bobsledder. Sheās described as āfierceā and someone she other contenders need to be aware of.
Legend is a medal-winning powerlifter Matt Morsia, who still trains up to six times a week in the sport, as well as for bodybuilding. Also an author and social media influencer, he says heās been ātraining like a beast for the showā and knows he will be ābetter than everyone elseā.
When does the new series start?
The Gladiators revival will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, however a release date is yet to be announced by the broadcaster.
Itās keeping tight lipped other than ābroadcast details will be announced in due courseā.
However, it has been confirmed the season will contain 11 episodes, each being an hour long.
The show is yet to be filmed and keen fans can luckily get free tickets to be in the audience at Utilita Arena, Sheffield. At the time of writing, half of the shows are booked out but there is limited availability to attend filming on four dates in early June.
